Either working on this one or the one I have at home, which is in worse shape. I plan to rebuild the carb on the 1969 Jeepster Commando this winter and have another go at that one too. http://www.powerblockers.com/u...llery&Number=234

You might want to jerk the plugs out and squirt something like WD-40 down the cyclinders to maybe loosen the rings before trying to pull start it.

It does turn over fast. It just won't start. You correctly comprehended the content. Everybody seems to be holding up as well as should be expected. Thanks.

Next step is dump a little gas down the carb, hold the butterfly valve open (like giving it gas) and see if it fires at all. Hopefully it will run. If it backfires, and continues to backfire, it might have stuck valves. If it runs and dies, then runs...

VERY slowly if they go at all. One ruptured his gas tank and another was losing steering fluid. We did see one get pulled off with a tow truck. This one made decent time on the course because he knew what he was doing to not get hung up on the rocks.

Add to your list some kind of oil or assembly lube. We used to use STP and put it on all the crank bearings and cam bearings so it wouldn't screw up the bearings on first start. Also, you can smear Vasoline on any surface you don't want...

I got a tube of assembly lube a couple of weeks ago along with some different thread lockers. The head bolts came out with the nuts and they won't do that again after we are done. The machine shop had oil on the bare spots when they were done with the...
